Helldivers 2 is going to get a massive content infusion with the upcoming Escalation of Freedom update, which will debut on August 6th. Arrowhead Games, the game’s developer, has listened to user feedback and is offering a variety of new content for both veteran and new players.

Helldivers 2 has been a significant title for PlayStation this year, also finding success upon its PC release. However, this momentum was temporarily disrupted when PlayStation mandated that PC players link their PSN accounts to continue playing. This decision sparked significant backlash from the community, ultimately leading to a reversal of the policy.

Speaking of this new update, we are expected to get new missions, objectives, enemies, planets and much more.

Helldivers 2 Announces its First Major Update – Escalation of Freedom

One of the standout features of the “Escalation of Freedom” update is the addition of the Combat Rating 10 (CR 10): Super Helldive. This new difficulty level was created to be the toughest yet, with intense gameplay and greater rewards. Players will fight massive bot strongholds and new mission objectives, requiring a collaborative strategy to win.

The update also brings back the Impaler, a formidable enemy from the original Helldivers. In addition, new threats including the Spore Charger and Terminid Alpha Commander have been introduced. The Automatons are also getting reinforcements, including a powerful Rocket Tank. Players have to navigate dangerous wetland areas covered with rolling fog and wild plants, where vision is limited.

In addition to these, Arrowhead is also working to resolve players’ complaints regarding grief kicking. A new method guarantees that players who are thrown out of a squad keep all of the team’s mission rewards. The update also adds quality-of-life changes, such as social menu fixes that make squad building with friends easier.

This is the first major update for Helldivers 2 since its launch in February 2024. Currently, the game is available on PC (Steam) and PlayStation 5.

Since its announcement, Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been receiving backlash from the community, especially in Japan. The game is set in Feudal Japan and features two protagonists Naoe, a skilled shinobi assassin, and Yasuke, a legendary African samurai.

The game has been hit with criticism due to the inclusion of a black samurai as a protagonist and critics argue that the game’s depiction of Japan is historically inaccurate and that the inclusion of Yasuke is an example of “black-washing.”

Subsequent criticism arose when Ubisoft faced backlash over promotional materials. While the company apologized, details were scarce. It’s believed the issue centred on concept art featuring a flag belonging to a modern-day Japanese historical re-enactment group, the Sekigahara Teppo-tai. This unauthorized use of the flag, despite an apology, will still appear in the collector’s edition art book.

Earlier today, Ubisoft issued a public message to Japanese fans on X/Twitter, explaining the project’s commitment to historical authenticity and apologizing for any promotional materials that may have caused concern within the community.

Ubisoft Apologies to Japanese Community After Assassin’s Creed Shadows Backlash

The four-page statement, issued in both English and Japanese, clarifies that Assassin’s Creed Mirage is a work of historical fiction rather than a factual representation. The development team emphasized the game’s intention to inspire player interest in the Feudal Japan period while acknowledging that creative liberties have been taken.

The game, set in Feudal Japan, has also faced controversy over its portrayal of Yasuke, a historical figure often depicted as a Black samurai. Ubisoft defended its creative liberties in representing Yasuke as a protagonist, emphasizing the game’s fictional nature and its intention to spark interest in the historical period. While acknowledging the limited historical evidence surrounding Yasuke’s life, Ubisoft maintained that the character’s mysterious persona aligns with the Assassin’s Creed franchise.

The team’s message notes that the game “will keep evolving until launch.” “Based on the constructive criticism we have received, we will continue our efforts until we put this game into your hands – and beyond,” it explains.

Despite the backlash, Ubisoft remains committed to the game’s development and has pledged to incorporate fan feedback.

National Esports Championship (NESC 2024) Registrations Open: Qualifiers to 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games

The Esports Federation of India (ESFI) has opened up registrations for the National Esports Championship (NESC 2024). ESFI will organise this tournament and it acts as a crucial qualifier for the prestigious esports event at the 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Bangkok and Chonburi, Thailand.

For the first time, esports will be recognized as a full medal sport at the AIMAG, which will be held in Bangkok and Chonburi, Thailand, from November 23 to 28. While the tournament includes three mobile titles – Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Arena of Valor, and eFootball – India will only focus on the eFootball category due to the ban on the other two games.

The sixth AIMAG will begin on November 21 and go until November 30, 2024. The eFootball mobile matches will be played on November 23 and 24, with playoffs on November 26 and the final gold medal round on November 27.

NESC24 will be conducted online in the first week of August, with the quarter-finals onwards being streamed live on ESFI’s YouTube channel. Additionally, selected players will have the opportunity to train at the venue before the continental games.

PUBG Mobile World Cup 2024 started off on July 19 with 28 participating teams from worldwide. The tournament features a hefty prize pool of $3 Million USD spread across three different phases. PUBG Mobile Esports World Cup 2024 is taking place in Riyadh Soudi, Saudi Arabia.

This tournament was part of the Esports World Cup 2024 which also hosts tournaments related to other major titles like LoL, Overwatch 2, and many more. Here is all you need to know about the PUBG Mobile World Cup 2024.

PUBG Mobile World Cup 2024: Tournament Format and Schedulepubg mobile world cup 2024

The tournament will be divided into three stages: Group Stage, Survival Stage, and Main Tournament. Each stage will take place over a specific period with a set number of matches.

  • Group Stage: Jul 19 – 21
  • Survival Stage: Jul 23 – 24
  • Main Tournament: Jul 26 – 28

The Group Stage will feature 24 invited teams across the world spread into three groups (View Teams and Groups Below) and 18 matches will be held in the 3-matchdays period. Each group will get to play 12 matches and the top 12 teams will qualify for the Main tournament while the bottom 12 will be moved to Survival Stage.

During the Survival Stage, the bottom 12 teams from the Group Stage will join 4 invited wildcard teams from each PMSL region. These 16 teams will battle it out in 12 matches vying for the remaining 4 slots in the main tournament. Only the top 4 will get to play in the Main tournament while the rest will be eliminated.

The Main tournament will feature 16 teams (12 from Group Stage + 4 from Survival Stage) and these teams will play a total of 18 matches in total where the top performing team will be crowned as champions.

Despite rumours suggesting a 2025 launch or even cancellation, a new report claims Sony will unveil the PlayStation 5 Pro by the end of 2024. This news contradicts recent speculation and fuels excitement for the upcoming console. Let’s delve into the expected details of the Sony PlayStation 5 Pro (PS5 Pro).

The Wait for the Sony PlayStation 5 Pro Launch Might Gonna End Soon

Developers have been informed that they can submit their PS5 Pro-supporting applications to CertOps (Platform Certification and Operations) starting July 30th, according to a report by Insider Gaming. The report also states that games released for the PS5 after September 15th must support the PS5 Pro.

Documents from mid-2023 projected a PS5 Pro announcement in late November 2024, however, there are concerns regarding its availability this year because of a lack of first-party titles that use its features. Despite these concerns, the PS5 Pro is anticipated to be released as planned. This clearly states that there should be no concerns regarding the console’s delay or cancellation.

PlayStation has yet to confirm the existence of the PS5 Pro. Still, developers are actively using PS5 development kits, and PS5 Pro testing kits were distributed this spring. The PS5 Pro announcement is likely to follow a similar period to the PlayStation 4 Pro, which was introduced in September. Sony’s appearance at the Tokyo Game Show (TGS) in September, its first appearance in five years, has sparked rumours that the PS5 Pro may be introduced at or before the event.

PS5 Pro Speculated Features

Though not confirmed the PS5 Pro is reported to have a more powerful GPU and a slightly faster CPU mode than the normal PS5. According to a recent study, the GPU rendering on the PS5 Pro might be up to 45 per cent quicker than the PlayStation 5. Furthermore, the future PlayStation 5 Pro is rumoured to include a more powerful ray tracing architecture and Higher resolutions (up to 8K).

The CPU is expected to stay the same as the PS5, however, there may be a new mode with a higher clock speed of 3.85GHz, which is about 10% faster than the PS5. Developers may select between the high CPU frequency option (3.85GHz) or the usual mode (3.5GHz).

Sony has not officially announced the PS5 Pro, thus all specs are based on rumours and speculations. We will keep you posted on official announcements.

BGMI 3.3 Update Released

The much-anticipated BGMI 3.3 update has been launched for Android and iOS devices earlier today. Krafton, the developers behind the popular battle royale game, Battlegrounds Mobile India, has unveiled the details of the update, promising a fresh and exhilarating journey for gamers.

The new update comes with a new themed mode, and this time, it is underwater! Yes, you heard it right, an underwater-themed mode, titled Ocean Odyssey will be in-game. There are two hot drop places (ocean places) for this theme, one at the Ruins and one at the riverside of Mylta. There is so much more to explore here and let’s get to it without any wait.

Ocean Odyssey: Theme Mode

One of the most notable improvements to the 3.3 release is the Ocean Odyssey theme mode. This mode takes players to underwater battlegrounds with intriguing water tunnels, incredible treasures, and fierce combat conditions. Players can expect instant fights and interesting action when they enter this thrilling new mode.

  • The new Trident weapon allows players to dominate their opponents. There are only 2 Tridents available on the map. It can also create toofan for some time.
  • Similar to the Jetpack in the previous update, this update comes with a Stingray vehicle that moves quickly over different terrains and can trap your opponents in a water bubble.
  • Water Orb Blaster: Use it to create a water orb to any location to travel there. It lasts for a short time.
  • Water Orb Grenade: Used to form a large water orb at the point of impact. Players caught in the blast are engulfed and they must swim to the edge to escape.
  • Players can get up to 4 respawn cards in the underwater ocean palace. However, you will get automatically recalled if eliminated in the palace with an additional recall at hand.
  • Whale Escape pod: Enter the Water Orb and wait to be swallowed and taken away by the whale.
  • There are two ocean temples situated within the sealed Forsaken Ruins. It can be unlocked by solving a puzzle. It contains an underwater cave with so much loot and a portal to the centre of the zone.

New X-Suit: Galadria

The update also includes the Galadria X-Suit, a highly desirable garment that is expected to be popular among gamers. This new outfit has a unique design and is intended to become a must-have item in the game, distinguishing players with its unusual appearance.

Supercars in BGMI

For those who appreciate speed and style, the update introduces new Lamborghini supercars to the battlegrounds. These cars include customisable skins, enabling players to show off their particular style while chasing hot drops and leaving opponents in the dust.
