The long-rumoured and most-anticipated announcement from Sony has finally come through in the form of the all-new PS5 Pro. The latest Sony Technical PlayStation Presentation featuring PS5 Pro offered fans its looks, enhanced features and pricing. So far, the reaction has been mixed.
Although leaks suggested that the mid-generation PS5 refresh would maintain the current design, the reveal has not quite captured the hearts of fans. The new PS5 Pro promises enhanced visual fidelity and framerates, but these improvements are difficult to appreciate through compressed YouTube streams, especially when Sony decided to showcase PS4 games for the newer upgrade.
Perhaps the most significant hurdle is the price which is 700 USD for the console itself and it is Disc-less. Players need to buy an additional HD Disc Drive, costing 80 USD and possibly a vertical stand (30 USD). For those with a substantial collection of PS4 and PS5 games on physical media, the total outlay could approach $800. The regional pricing would make it more costly.
Is the enhanced detail in games like Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart and Gran Turismo 7 worth the premium? Let’s hear from the critics and the fans:
I'm speculating an approx ~INR 70K price for the PS5 Pro without the disc drive. That's an additional ~INR 10K. INR 80K for a console. A bit much but you do you. #PS5Pro#India#PS5ProIndia
the $699 price tag on the PS5 Pro certainly tests the waters for next-gen console pricing and discless consoles. Hold onto your disc drives and wallets, because next-gen consoles aren't gonna be cheap and will almost certainly come discless as standard
My simple ( it might look stupid but hear it nonetheless) question is- what if one purchases ps 5 pro and gets a pro patch for let’s say ragnarok. What if it makes the game worse because of A.I. upscaling . As it sometimes happens in pc games.
All said and done, the PS5 Pro at the moment is only an enthusiast's device. The games that'll utilise its upgrades you've probably played twice by now at minimum, so very little reason to upgrade rn.
I myself will probably upgrade early-ish simply due to spotty restocking.

MY Reaction to the $800 PS5 Pro including the Disc Drive… BRUH. This is garbage… $700+ for an all digital console is just whack… Sony, come on man…. pic.twitter.com/BEXoK4XDsM
($700 was the right price. Pro products are supposed to generate positive margin dollars by selling to price insensitive super users, not have greater or comparable losses than entry SKUs, nor are they indended to drive install base growth. Same reason DualSense Edge is $200)
Sony has announced the PlayStation 5 Pro (PS5 Pro), the latest and most advanced addition to the PlayStation family. This new console, revealed in a technical presentation led by Mark Cerny, promises significant upgrades over the original PS5. Here is all you need to know about the console.
The PS5 Pro introduces several major improvements:
Upgraded GPU: With 67% more Compute Units and 28% faster memory than the original PS5, the PS5 Pro delivers up to 45% faster rendering, resulting in a smoother gameplay experience.
Advanced Ray Tracing: The enhanced ray tracing capabilities offer dynamic reflections and light refractions at double or even triple the speed of the original PS5, creating a more immersive environment.
AI-Driven Upscaling: PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution uses AI to provide razor-sharp image clarity and extraordinary detail.
Additionally, the PS5 Pro supports backward compatibility with over 8,500 PS4 games through the new PS5 Pro Game Boost, improving their performance. It also features the latest wireless technology with Wi-Fi 7, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), and 8K gaming support.
Enhanced Game Library

Several blockbuster titles will be updated to leverage the PS5 Pro’s advanced hardware, including:

The Last of Us Part II Remastered
Games optimized for the PS5 Pro will be marked with a “PS5 Pro Enhanced” label.
Design and Compatibility
The PS5 Pro maintains the familiar design of the PS5 but with enhanced specifications. It retains the same height and width, ensuring compatibility with existing accessories such as the PlayStation VR2, DualSense Edge, and Pulse Elite headsets. The console will be available as a disc-less model, with an optional Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive sold separately.
Price and Availability
The PS5 Pro will be available globally on November 7, 2024, with preorders starting September 26, 2024. Pricing is as follows:

After PS5 Pro rumours surfaced live online and Sony seemingly teased the consPlayStation 5 Technical Presentation hosted by Mark Cerny set to take place today. Here is all you need to know about the event.
Sony PlayStation Technical Presentation: What Does it Actually Mean?
According to the official blog post, the technical presentation will be run for 9 minutes and will focus on “PS5 and innovations in gaming technology.”
Sony seems poised to announce the PS5 Pro, as evidenced by Cerny’s appearance. The lead architect of the original console will likely highlight the new model’s enhanced power. In addition to that, the audience has found an unlisted YT video titled PS5 Pro which represents ‘The Journey Continues.’
Last week, Sony may have given fans a glimpse of the PS5 Pro design through an official image released for PlayStation’s 30th anniversary. If you look closely between the PlayStation logo and the number 30 in the image below, you’ll notice an unfamiliar PS5 design featuring three stripes on the side, which many fans have pointed out.
The image adds weight to billbil-kun’s reliable prediction of the PS5 Pro’s design, suggesting its potential launch later this year, which even cemented the delay of many games this year.
Sony PlayStation Technical Presentation: When and Where to Watch?
The presentation will take place on the PlayStation YouTube channel starting at 8:30 PM IST. It’s only a matter of time before we closely examine the long-rumoured PlayStation 5 Pro and its hardware and technical capabilities.
While the new console offers improved performance than the existing models, Sony has better come up with groundbreaking upgrades with affordable pricing at this moment. The console needs to deliver a substantial upgrade in performance, functionality, and cutting-edge technology. This could involve significant advancements in features like ray tracing, quicker loading speeds, a larger solid-state drive, support for 8K gaming, or exclusive capabilities that set it apart.
Additionally, affordability is crucial. Given the rising cost of living and the increasing number of budget-conscious gamers, launching a high-priced console without substantial improvements could deter potential buyers. If Sony fails to find the right balance between innovation and price, gamers might choose more flexible platforms like PC, which offers a wider range of games and hardware options.
PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, the next generation of consoles were released in 2020 and since the lockdown, the gaming landscape has seen a huge incline. While smartphones are considered the powerhouses of gaming today by a few individuals, gaming on PS5, or Xbox console is a whole lot of different feeling.
Even when we enjoy playing a huge array of games on mobiles, it cannot give the experience of playing AAA titles on a bigger screen with high-resolution texture. However, a console requires external hardware like a controller, a TV screen, and a headset. But, playing a high-end game on a big screen is surely worth it and the number of consoles that have been sold since their release says it all. Both of the consoles have strong communities with numerous classic & exclusive titles, and the topic of PlayStation 5 vs Xbox Series X/S is not an easy one. Choosing one among both is tough but there are a few details that can be looked into before choosing a console and this article will help you through it.
PlayStation 5 vs Xbox Series X/S: Key Points to Remember Before Purchasing in 2024
Before we dive in, remember that choosing the right console can be subjective. Both PlayStation and Xbox have established legacies, and the past consoles you have played on might influence your decision.
However, if you choose to buy a PS5, Sony has announced the PS5 Slim which comes with a sleeker, lighter experience at the same price as the classic. This digital-focused console comes with the option to add a detachable disc drive, catering to physical game preferences.
PS5 and Xbox Series X both pack a punch, but choosing between them is all about your gamer DNA. Do you crave epic exclusives like God of War and Horizon Forbidden West? The PS5 might be your destiny. Or do you value convenience features like Quick Resume and FPS Boost or Xbox exclusives like Halo, and Starfield? The Xbox Series X could be your perfect match. Both Microsoft and Sony are constantly upping the ante, pushing their consoles to new heights.
Both PS5 and Xbox Series X burst onto the scene in late 2020, igniting the next-gen console war. While the PS5 arrived a week later (November 19th) than the Xbox Series X (November 10th), both machines boast impressive processing capabilities. While Microsoft may edge out slightly in raw power, the true battle lies in your gaming preferences. Both consoles pack a punch under the hood, but the Xbox Series X has a slight edge in terms of processing capabilities.
Both consoles are champions in their own right. We’ve meticulously compared them to help you choose the one that aligns with your gaming spirit.
PlayStation 5 vs Xbox Series X vs Xbox Series S: Specs
In three years, a lot of exclusive games have taken place on both platforms. PlayStation 5 holds an extensive array of huge titles while some are also playable on the PS4, offering backward compatibility benefits. In comparison, the Xbox Series X library currently features fewer exclusives, but Microsoft’s recent acquisitions point towards a more robust future offering.
Hardware
Processing Power: Both the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S feature powerful AMD Ryzen processors and next-generation graphics cards. While the PS5’s CPU and GPU are slightly faster, the difference is often negligible in real-world gameplay. However, in very demanding titles, the PS5 might have a slight edge.
Storage and Memory: The original PS5’s 825GB storage was often seen as limiting for gamers with large libraries. The newer PS5 Slim rectified this by offering a generous 1TB of storage, matching the Xbox Series X. Both consoles support expandable storage, but the PS5 requires an additional M.2 SSD while the Xbox Series X offers a dedicated expansion slot. The PS5’s higher memory bandwidth can potentially benefit certain games, especially those that heavily utilize system memory.
Physical Features: The PS5’s futuristic design is distinctive, while the Xbox Series X is more understated and compact. Both consoles offer disc drives and a variety of ports for connecting peripherals. The Xbox Series X is generally considered quieter due to its more efficient cooling system.
Overall, while the PS5 might have a slight edge in terms of raw processing power and memory bandwidth, the Xbox Series X offers a more compact and potentially quieter design.
Software and Features
Operating System: Both have user-friendly interfaces, but PS5’s Activity Cards offer unique multitasking features. Xbox boasts Quick Resume for seamless game switching.
Games and Exclusives: Both have strong libraries, with PS5 featuring titles like God of War Ragnarök and Horizon Forbidden West. Xbox counters with Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5, but both platforms receive third-party games simultaneously.
Backward Compatibility: PS5 offers limited backward compatibility with PS4 games, while Xbox Series X boasts seamless compatibility with four generations of Xbox titles.
Subscription Services: PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass offer online multiplayer, discounts, and access to a library of games. Xbox Game Pass provides even greater value with day-one access to first-party titles.
Additional Features: PS5 boasts haptic feedback and adaptive triggers in its DualSense controller, while Xbox counters with cloud gaming through Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Price and Availability
The PlayStation 5 is priced at ₹49,990 for the Standard Edition and ₹39,990 for the Digital Edition. Availability has been an issue since launch, with regular restocks being sold out within minutes due to high demand. However, in 2024, restocks have become more frequent, and you might find it easier to secure a console from major online retailers like Amazon, Flipkart, and Sony’s official website, as well as physical stores.
On the other hand, the Xbox Series X is priced at ₹52,990, slightly more expensive than the PS5 Standard Edition. The Xbox Series S, the more affordable option, comes in at ₹34,990, making it the cheapest next-gen console. The availability of Xbox consoles has generally been better than that of PS5 consoles, with less frequent shortages. Xbox Series S, especially, is more commonly in stock, and you can find both models in major retailers across India.
PS5 Slim
In late 2023, Sony introduced the PlayStation 5 Slim, a more compact version of the original PS5. It features a smaller, lighter design, but maintains the same hardware power as the standard PS5. The PS5 Slim comes in two versions: one with a disc drive and one without (Digital Edition), priced at ₹54,990 and ₹44,990 respectively. The Slim version is aimed at users who want the PS5 experience but prefer a more space-efficient and sleek design.
The PS5 Slim’s release has helped improve the availability of PlayStation consoles in India, with Sony pushing out more units to retailers, making it more accessible than before.
Note: The prices are subject to change and you may find discounts with select retailers.
Support of Devices
When comparing PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in terms of device support, both consoles offer compatibility with a range of peripherals and external devices, but with some key differences.
PlayStation 5
VR Support: The PS5 supports the PlayStation VR headset, though an adapter is required to use it with older PSVR models. Sony has also released PlayStation VR2, a next-gen VR system specifically designed for the PS5, offering higher resolution, better tracking, and improved immersion.
Backward Compatibility: The PS5 supports most PS4 accessories, including the DualShock 4 controller (limited to PS4 games), PS4 steering wheels, arcade sticks, and flight sticks. However, the DualSense controller is required for PS5 games.
Media Devices: It supports external storage devices like USB drives for media playback, although PS5 games can only be played from the internal SSD or an officially supported M.2 SSD. External hard drives are supported for PS4 games.
Headsets and Audio: The PS5 is compatible with a range of third-party Bluetooth headsets and wired headphones. Sony also released the Pulse 3D Wireless Headset, optimized for the PS5’s 3D audio features, providing a more immersive sound experience in games.
Xbox Series X/S
Cross-Generation Support: Xbox Series X/S supports many devices across generations, including Xbox One controllers, headsets, and other accessories. This includes the Elite Series 2 controller and other Xbox-compatible devices, allowing players to carry over their existing peripherals.
Cloud Gaming: Xbox’s cloud gaming service, available through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, allows the use of mobile devices, tablets, and PCs to stream games, increasing the range of supported devices beyond the console itself.
Backward Compatibility: The Xbox Series X/S has robust backward compatibility support for external storage devices, including the ability to run older games (Xbox One, 360, and original Xbox) directly from an external hard drive.
Storage Expansion: Xbox offers the Seagate Storage Expansion Card, a proprietary SSD that fits into a slot in the back of the console, making it easy to expand storage without complicated setups.
Overall, PS5 stands out with its cutting-edge VR support and immersive accessories like the DualSense controller and Pulse 3D headset. Xbox Series X/S excels in cross-generational compatibility, device support, and the flexibility offered by cloud gaming, making it easier to integrate older accessories and external storage options.
Verdict
Drawing a verdict between these consoles is hard but things you need to consider before making a purchase are :
Gaming Library: Do you have a preference for PlayStation or Xbox exclusive titles?
Subscription Services: Do you value the features and benefits offered by PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass?
Controller Features: Do you appreciate the unique features of the DualSense controller or prefer a more traditional controller experience?
Price: Is the price difference significant enough to influence your decision?
Storage: Do you need a large amount of storage for your game library?
Choose PS5 if you prioritize exclusive games and immersive controller features. Otherwise, go with Xbox Series X/S if you want the best value for a game subscription service (Game Pass), better backward compatibility, or raw performance. Ultimately, it comes down to your gaming preferences, with both consoles offering excellent experiences for different types of players.

The All-India Game Developers’ Forum (AIGDF), in partnership with the Indian Governance and Policy Project (IGAP), has published a white paper titled “India’s Gaming Industry: Time For Age & Content Ratings?”. This comprehensive report underlines the critical need for a structured age and content rating system specially tailored to India’s fast-developing gaming industry’s unique cultural and constitutional landscape.
India’s Booming Gaming Industry Needs Age Rating System, Report Says
With an estimated 425 million players, India has seen an unparalleled increase in gaming content consumption. However, unlike other digital content industries, such as OTT platforms, India lacks a consistent age-rating game framework. This regulatory vacuum has resulted in the unregulated exposure of inappropriate material to younger audiences, raising worries about the possible dangers of an unregulated web, particularly for children.
The report discusses how global age-rating systems, such as the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) in North America and the Pan European Game Information (PEGI) system, might give useful insights for developing a domestic model customized to Indian sensibilities. Despite the fact that some publishers have adopted foreign-origin rating systems, the paper contends that a domestic rating framework, based on locally recognized vocabulary and criteria, would be more effective.
The AIGDF report also emphasizes the need for regulated and responsible industrial procedures to ensure children’s safety and mental well-being. The gaming ecosystem provides several advantages, including increased creativity, problem-solving ability, and cognitive abilities. However, without a controlled environment, these advantages may be outweighed by the hazards of improper material.
The paper concludes with a call to action for stakeholders to discuss the best methods to govern and promote India’s thriving gaming sector. Using worldwide best practices like as parental controls and age verification systems, the industry can build a secure and responsible gaming environment that fosters growth without suffocating potential.
As India’s gaming industry expands, the necessity for a standardized age and content rating system becomes more urgent. The AIGDF and IGAP paper provides a plan for creating a framework that balances gaming’s entertainment value with the safety and well-being of its younger users.
2024: a "forum" for RMG decides to peddle a whitepaper on what video game ratings in India should be. Maybe first make video games instead of changing your name to sound like you are game devs when you don't represent the interests of those in the business. Gross.
Rishi Alwani questions the AIGDF’s report regarding its legitimacy and motives. The veteran claims that the AIGDF is funded by real-money gaming companies rather than actual video game developers, suggesting that the report is a ploy to gain relevance. Additionally, the veteran argues that the AIGDF should focus on developing video games before attempting to influence industry regulations.

Battlegrounds Mobile Indiais currently dominating the country’s mobile gaming arena. The game was launched on July 2, 2021, after PUBG Mobile was banned in September 2020. It was a huge hit and it has no strong competition in the market be it battle royale or esports. With its intense gameplay, strategic elements, and competitive spirit, it has become a favourite among gamers of all ages with lakhs of active players every day.
Do you remember how the game was in older days? Or How is it going today? The game’s meta is constantly evolving and competitive players, gamers, and streams constantly innovate around the meta and come up with new strategies that surprise even the devs.
However, mastering BGMI needs focus, practice, and a comprehensive understanding of the game’s mechanics. This article aims to give an in-depth guide to help you ace up your gameplay and outplay your opponents.
Aiming is one of the most crucial things in BGMI, especially in competitive games. You have to be consistent and more accurate to achieve success.
Practice in Training Mode: Esports players will spend hours on training grounds. Use this arena regularly like every day to improve your aim. Try practising target moving objects, aim tracing left to right and right to left
Headshot is the Focus: To maximize damage, aim for headshots. Practice different fire modes with different weapons and ranges to learn how to reliably land headshots.
Mastering Movement
Mastering different movement techniques like crouching, prone, and jumping is essential for avoiding enemy fire and gaining tactical advantages. When you are in an open ground and being fired from a long distance, these movements will help you escape from that scenario.
Also, movement across your fingers when playing BGMI also comes into play. You have to be very quick and fast enough with touch controls to get ahead of your opponents.
Recoil Control
Understanding and controlling weapon recoil is crucial for maintaining accuracy:
Weapon Recoil Patterns: Every weapon has a unique recoil pattern. To master these patterns, practice with your preferred weapon combo in varied ranges. Learn how to manage recoil by altering your grip and shooting patterns. You have to connect shots even without any grips or scope which makes you a pro player ultimately.
Sensitivity Settings
The right sensitivity settings could have a huge influence on your gaming. Don’t just go around by copying others!
Find your comfort zone: Experiment with different sensitivity levels to see what works best for your play style. Practice with each gun and various scopes to find low recoil and high connectivity shots.
Balance Sensitivity: Set the sensitivity for both pointing and movement to guarantee responsiveness and accuracy.
Game Sense and Strategy
Map Knowledge
Familiarity with BGMI game maps is crucial to strategic gameplay.
Learn the layout: Examine each map’s layout, including loot locations, high-ground areas, and potential enemy hotspots.
Plan your routes accordingly: Use map knowledge to plan your route and predict opponent moves.
Strategic positioning
Choosing the right locations can provide a tactical advantage:
High Ground: Position yourself on higher ground to improve your vision and shooting angle.
Cover Utilization: Always use natural or artificial cover to shield yourself from hostile fire.
Play Solo vs Squad which is the best way to learn game sense.
Effective Communication
Picture this: you’re at a location when your silent teammate goes down. You’re left to face the opponents on your own, putting yourself in a risky situation. That is why coordination with your teammates is also important in strategic gameplay.
Callouts: Use clear and concise callouts to indicate opponent positions, loot locations, and strategy changes.
Team Coordination: Collaborate with your team to carry out strategies and respond to risks effectively.
Loot Management
Efficient loot management ensures that you have enough supplements for your fights.
Prioritize essentials: Make sure your weapons are fully attached, and your character with 3-tier helmet and vest.
Avoid Overloading: Avoid picking up unnecessary items that could weigh you down or clutter your inventory.
Vehicle Mastery
Vehicles can be game-changers for mobility and strategy:
Driving Skills: Practice driving various vehicles to have an understanding of their handling and how to use them efficiently for rapid turns or escapes.
Vehicle Use: Use vehicles to scout, position, and move quickly across the area.
Practice and Mindset
Consistent practice
Regular practice in BGMI is critical for improvement.
Daily Sessions: Set out time each day to practice and improve your skills.
Skill Drills: Perform particular drills to work on weaknesses and enhance overall gameplay.
Learning from Professional Players
Observing professional players might give useful information.
Watch Streams and Videos: Learn new strategies and methods by analyzing professional players’ games
Adapt techniques: Incorporate effective techniques and tactics learned from professional players into your own gaming.
Analyzing Mistakes
Reflecting on your games might indicate areas of improvement.
Review Gameplay: Watch match replays to discover and learn from your faults.
Seek input: Communicate with the community or experienced players to receive helpful input.
Positive Mindset
Maintaining a positive mentality is critical for long-term growth.
Stay motivated by focusing on your progress and celebrating minor triumphs.
