Godlike Esports Signs BGMI Shadow as Their New Player: TSM Claims Player Poaching from GodL

0
BGMI Shadow Godlike

Godlike Esports, one of the renowned esports organizations in India, signs Former TSM IGL, Shadow to their roster before Nodwin Gaming’s BGMI Master Series Lan Event. Shadow is one of the finest BGMI players in India, and his in-game role is IGL (Leader of the team). In the upcoming Lan, BGMI Shadow will play in the Godlike roster containing star players like Jonathan, Neyoo, Zgod, and Clutchgod.

IQOO Battlegrounds Mobile India Series Season 1 had concluded in which Team Soul had emerged as the champions, OR Esports became the runner-ups. Several experienced and Professional teams like Xspark, TSM, Godlike, etc failed to qualify for BMPS S1 from BMOC Round 4 due to high competition from the underdog teams. Following the conclusion of BMPS, several organizations have started to make changes to their rosters. The latest news came from Godlike Esports, signing Ex-TSM player Shadow as their new IGL.

Godlike Esports Signs EX-TSM Athlete Shadow to their BGMI Roster

Shadow has been playing with Godlike Esports in several unofficial tournaments of BGMI in the name of GodlxTryouts. Several sources have reported that Shadow would join Godlike Esports, and the news came out proper after the organization itself announced its new signing. Shadow will be the new IGL for GodL while former IGL Clutchod will play as an assaulter. Here is the new announcement from Godl Instagram handle:

Shadow has been playing PUBG Mobile (Now BGMI) since 2019 and has played under renowned organizations like Marcos Gaming, Megastars, Enigma Gaming and TSM FTX. Shadow joined the TSM BGMI roster before BGIS 2021, along with Ninjajod, Aquanox, and Blaze. He is the in-game leader for the roster where other players would have to follow his calls on point to play thier game.

Shadow and his team have won several events like Nodwin x Loco All Stars Invitational Lan event, Skyesports Mobile Open 2021, and finished as the runner-ups in Battlegrounds mobile India Series 2021. After finishing the event after Skylightz Gaming, the team also failed to fly to PMGC as the team didn’t have any passports and hence didn’t get the chance to represent the country at the Global level. His current org, Godlike, had gone to PMGC 2021 from the Indian region but ended up at the thirteenth position.

Godlike Esports has not been performing well for the past several months as their IGL clutch god has been inactive due to his study issues. Many have criticized them for their downfall in the community after they failed to qualify for BMPS. With Godl Tryouts, all the players in Godl are pretty confident and earlier stated that their team was now balanced and is set to make a comeback in the forthcoming Lan event.

TSM Claims that BGMI Shadow was player-poached by GodL

Despite this announcement, TSM FTX India says  Godl has never reached out to TSM to buy/loan Shadow to their roster. Shadow was benched due to unknown issues, and TSM said they offered him that he could play as a loan player from another org in the upcoming event. But Shadow left TSM even when he is in under the contract and giving tryouts for his current org. TSM Lead Armin stated that he had reached out to Godl and Shadow to clear this matter professionally, but there was no return response.

Without any prior knowledge of TSM, Shadow was registered for BGMI master Series Lan event under another organization. This made the organization contact Krafton, but Krafton did not resolve the issue raised by TSM till date.

However, recently he was poached by an org that doesn’t want to loan/transfer agreements from TSM as esports organizations do. Replying to all this, Shadow, via his Instagram post, claimed that he was subjected to harassment, exploitation, and threats from his organization. TSM’s Official Instagram Handle had replied that this issue had been raised because “other organizations do not wish to do a loan and/or transfer agreement as a professional organization would.” Additionally, they called the ‘organization’ unprofessional for transferring Shadow for free.

Armin also stated that their organization would look after this issue professionally and mentioned that player poaching is a significant issue in Indian Esports, a major setback to the community’s growth. We can expect legal actions from TSM on Shadow as he is still in contract with the team.

On the other end, Godlike Esports is not letting the cat out of the bag and remained silent. A similar issue is also ongoing between Sayyam and insane Esports, where Sayyam claimed that he had experienced too much pressure, harassment, and Trauma by being under the organization of Insane Esports. If these issues are not solved internally, we may see professional teams fighting by law with each other.

Beyond traditional gaming for entertainment, people began recognizing the potential for esports careers. Presently, thousands aspire to become esports athletes, marking a significant shift in the gaming landscape.

Here are the Five Top Esports Games in India 2022

5. Clash Royale

Introduced in 2016 as a successor to the highly popular Clash of Clans, Clash Royale quickly carved its niche in the gaming landscape. Drawing players from Clash of Clans and cultivating its own fanbase, the game gained widespread popularity across all age groups. As its popularity surged, so did the level of competition, paving the way for the emergence of esports in Clash Royale.

While official tournaments in Clash Royale may not be as abundant, Supercell, the game’s developer and owner, consistently releases numerous in-game tournaments. These tournaments are accessible for free on the first attempt, providing players with an avenue to engage in competitive play. Furthermore, private organizations like ESL play a pivotal role in the esports ecosystem, hosting third-party tournaments that furnish players with a genuine esports environment.

4. Counter Strike Global Offensive CS: GO

best esports games

Released in late 2012, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) has witnessed a monumental surge in its following, establishing itself as a renowned game that endures to this day. CS: GO stands out as a strategic FPS (first-person shooter) game, offering gameplay that strikes a balance between accessibility and complexity.

The global esports scene for CS: GO took a significant leap in 2016 with its inaugural major worldwide esports event. Since then, the fervour for esports in CS: GO has shown no signs of waning. In India, the journey of major CS: GO events commenced in 2018, evolving into a landscape where tournaments featuring substantial prize pools are now a monthly occurrence. This free-to-play FPS (first-person shooter) boasts various playing modes such as team deathmatch and search and destroy. While catering to casual players seeking fun, its strategic gameplay has propelled it into the realm of esports.

In India, FREE FIRE has secured its position as the most played game, earning the second rank in esports popularity, following closely behind BGMI. Battlegrounds Mobile India stands as the Indian iteration of the mobile esports phenomenon, PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS (PUBG). The honourable Indian government’s ban on the earlier version of the game, citing privacy concerns, prompted Krafton, the publisher and developer, to create a version compliant with government regulations. Given India’s status as one of PUBG’s largest markets, crafting an Indian version was a logical step.

PUBG has cultivated a substantial fan base in India, offering enthusiasts an unparalleled esports experience. With the launch of Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), the excitement surpassed even that of the previous versions, propelling it to the coveted position of India’s number one esports game. Monthly official and unofficial events, featuring prize pools exceeding a crore, present valuable opportunities for underdogs and casual players alike. Notably, Indian teams have made their mark on the global stage, with Orange Rock Esports securing an impressive #2 position in the world league.

In conclusion, the esports landscape in India is thriving, offering diverse opportunities for aspiring gamers across various games. The popularity of these esports titles showcases the significant growth and potential within the Indian gaming community.

1. Global Esports

best esports team in india

Global Esports has come a long way which now owns around 12 teams across the globe across nine gaming titles. Like its name, this prominent organization operates globally in various esports events. Owned by Rushindra Sinha, GE has teams in CS: Go, Fortnite, Dota 2, Overwatch, Apex Legends, Rainbow Six Seige, etc.

Apart from that, GE has some of the best content creators worldwide. It also hosts global esports events inviting underdogs, providing an excellent chance to enter Esports with Global Esports. In India, Global Esports has a good name in BGMI Competitive and Valorant Competitive, where it has garnered championship titles with legacy.

2. Godlike Esports

top esports organizations

Godlike Esports marks a spot on this list when you speak of Indian Esports. It operates on the mobile gaming and esports platform, especially in BGMI (earlier known as PUBG Mobile). It has earned more than a Crore INR in terms of approximate total winnings as per Liquipedia Wiki. The organization had acquired one of the dominating teams in the PUBGM esports scene named TSM. TSM earlier had star players like Jonathan, Clutchgod, Neyoo, Zgod, and Ghatak.

After the PUBGM ban, several esports organizations disbanded their rosters, and this was the same case for TSM back in 2021. After BGMI’s arrival, Godlike Esports signed the entire roster which had dominated the hell of the BGMI competition in several events. The team even went to PMGC 2021 to represent India even though they were placed fourth in the Indian regional tournament. But lately, the team has lost its touch and has not performed well in BGMI events. Godlike Esports now owns rosters in BGMI, Cod Mobile, and Free Fire and has a girl’s lineup. Rooter, one of the leading streaming platforms, has recently signed Godlike Esports streaming rights as part of its 100 crore investment in Indian Esports.

3. Velocity Gaming

biggest esports orgs in india

Regarding Valorant’s esports community, Velocity Gaming tends to have a spot on the list. Owned by Sentinel, aka Manoj Kashyap, the team was initially into Rainbow: Six Siege and later invested in PUBG Mobile and CSGO. The organization set up a discord server to organize several customs and scrims for Indian PUBGM teams to help them get into esports. Following that, they came up with a Valorant roster, now one of the finest OG Teams in India. The team emerged victorious in several events such as the AMD Valo Cup, Global Esports SEA Launch Tournament, etc.

In 2020, the team rebranded to Team Mahi and later returned to its original name. Global Esports recently defeated Velocity Gaming in SCS 2022, which is the main stage for VCT 2022.

4. S8UL

best indian esports team

S8UL is one of the leading esports organisations in India, and it has a significant fanbase. Formed under the collaboration between OG teams Soul and 8-bit, the organization has significant collective achievements to which Team Soul has a massive contribution. Team Soul recently won IQOO Battlegrounds Mobile Pro Series Season 1 in 2022 and received Rs.75 Lakh Prize money. Nine out of ten additional rewards were collected by Team Soul, in which Goblin was the apex sensation.

Team 8-Bit was the first team to represent India at an International event in PUBG Mobile Esports. Team Soul has been to many global events and pridefully represented the nation. They now again got the chance to represent the country at PMWI 2022, which is set to take place in August 2022.

5. Orange Rock

top esports teams in india

Orange Rock Esports is also a significant roster in BGMI/PUBG Mobile Esports, owned by Pole To Win International (PTW). Global Companies like Zebronics, KFC, AMD, and Rooter now sponsor the roster. According to Liquipedia, the roster earned more than $185K in multiple events of Esports in IGC. OR also represented India in PUBGM World League: East but earned the second spot on the overall charts. If they had survived a bit more in the final match, they would have won the trophy in this international event.

They had lost it to Bigetron RA and returned home with $55K prize money. Their #2 curse is going on as they ended up being the runner-up in the recently concluded BMPS Season 1. Sources say that OR Esports might be invited to PMWI 2022, but there is no certainty in it. If it turns out to be accurate, it will be an excellent opportunity for the team to represent their country, sharing their pride with Soul.
