When the players are picked by the organisation and offered contracts, they must compete under that organisation’s name. There are different clauses in the contracts like bonuses and salary incrementations when they perform well and decrements when they don’t perform as per the expectations. Sometimes, one of the team’s players performs exceptionally well and seeks the limelight. The player’s exceptional performance attracts other organisations that want to sign that player. For signing a player who is already under a contract, the two organisations need to talk and agree.

Player poaching is not a good practice. It is a practice which is completely banned in western countries. Due to legal actions against Player poaching by different organisations, many players’ career has immediately come to an end.

In India, player poaching has normalised like it should not be because, in the past, the organisations were not so strict in this aspect. Also, the contracts had loopholes using which the organisations acquired their target players without activating the release clause.

CURRENT SCENARIO: INCREASING STRICTNESS TOWARDS PLAYER POACHING
