NODWIN Gaming, in partnership with BLAST, hosted the first-ever “The Draft” Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CSGO) tournament in South Asia, culminating in a thrilling victory for Marcos Gaming.

Following an intense Super Six LAN finals in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Marcos Gaming, led by esports legend Richard “shox” Papillon, emerged victorious over India’s True Rippers Esports in a nail-biting 3-2 grand final series.

Featuring six top teams from India and Pakistan, “The Draft” saw an exciting format where legendary CSGO players drafted players to form new teams. Papillon, with his vast experience and Major championship title under his belt, proved to be a formidable leader, guiding Marcos Gaming through the competition.

His individual performance was equally impressive, earning him the tournament MVP award with 302 kills, 187 deaths, and an impressive average damage per round (ADR) of 103 across the LAN finals.

The tournament, powered by energy drink giant Red Bull, marks a significant milestone for the South Asian esports scene. The unique “draft” format and participation of renowned players like Papillon have garnered substantial interest and opened doors for further growth in the region’s competitive gaming landscape.

The inaugural “The Draft” Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CSGO) tournament, a collaboration between NODWIN Gaming and BLAST, concluded with Marcos Gaming emerging victorious after a thrilling tournament.

The journey began with 64 teams from India and Pakistan battling for a spot in the group stage. Joining them were invited teams, creating a total of 6 from India and 5 from Pakistan. Eventually, True Rippers Esports, Marcos Gaming, and Gods Reign from India, and Pak Boyz, Team Wah Wah, and Com Mid from Pakistan advanced to the Super Six LAN phase.

Adding a unique twist, the tournament saw Counter-Strike legends like Adam “friberg” Friberg, Ladislav “GuardiaN” Kovacs, Richard “shox” Papillon, Olof “olofmeister” Gustafsson, Christopher “GeT_RiGhT” Alesund, and Kenny “kennyS” Schrub drafted to lead and mentor the teams. This not only elevated the competition but also provided invaluable lessons and experience for aspiring esports players.

Beyond the exciting gameplay, “The Draft” signifies a broader commitment to fostering the CS:GO ecosystem in South Asia. Both NODWIN Gaming and BLAST aim to provide a platform for emerging talent to showcase their skills on a global stage, drawing inspiration and learning from legendary players.
