John Wick Chapter 4 Director Cut is Coming Soon

“John Wick: Chapter 4” is a lengthy film. In reality, it’s a really long film. The action epic runs for a massive 169 minutes, and there was even a four-hour cut of the film before it was chopped down to its current length.

Director Chad Stahelski says he’s working on a director’s edit of the picture, which will add around 10 to 15 minutes to the film, including a new character not seen in the theatrical cut.

Speaking with ComicBookMovie, Stahelski said, “I’ve been working on the Director’s Cut, the extended cut, which we’ve almost finished. There’s about another, I think, 10 to 15 minutes we put back in.”

“We cut out a big chunk of Berlin, a whole character called The Frau, which is a pretty funny scene with John, and another scene between him and Tracker, a few other little action beats that we put back in. I mean, yeah, there’s always stuff we take out because it doesn’t fit the pacing. I think the stuff is all super quality, I love the choreo, I love the characters. It just didn’t – as a whole, it changed the pace of the film…”

Certainly, the question arises about the timing and platform for the release of this cut. Given that the image has already been distributed on Blu-ray, it suggests that we might expect either a second, special edition Blu-ray or a digital release of the director’s cut.

The wait for a three-hour-plus version of the fourth installment doesn’t seem too prolonged. Place your bets now on whether the additional ten minutes will feature more scenes of John sliding down previously unknown steps of Sacré Coeur.
