Samara Weaving is about to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Emma Frost, but the actress already has another universe she apparently spends plenty of time exploring: video games. While fans wait to see her become the White Queen in Marvel’s upcoming X-Men, Weaving’s gaming habits offer a surprisingly entertaining look at what she does when she isn’t working.
The actress reportedly hauls a PS5 to every film set, hotel, and Airbnb she stays in, and has openly admitted to turning down social plans on set just to keep roaming massive virtual worlds. Her setup goes beyond casual gaming, too. She once brought a real steering wheel and pedal rig to a shoot just to play between takes. This shows gaming is a true way she relaxes on set, not just a casual hobby.
On a recent appearance on Polygon’s Shelf Quest, she revealed that her big favorite is Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2, praising its sprawling frontier narrative while cheekily admitting she skips slow farm chores to rob banks and cause saloon chaos instead. Her gaming queue also includes Assassin’s Creed for its stealth mechanics, Hogwarts Legacy to live out her lifelong Harry Potter fandom, and Mortal Kombat, where she claims her lethal Kitana skills can beat almost anyone in a fight.
Samara Weaving’s Marvel Breakthrough as Emma Frost
Weaving’s gaming habits are getting fresh attention now that her Emma Frost casting is official, revealed alongside the rest of the X-Men reboot’s cast. The cast also includes Sadie Sink, Kit Connor, and Adam Driver, all revealed at D23. Jake Schreier’s film isn’t due until May 2028, which leaves plenty of runway before Weaving trades her controller for Emma Frost’s telepathic powers and diamond-skin transformations.
Until then, between shoots for whatever comes next, don’t be surprised if her PS5 shows up right alongside her in whatever hotel room she’s working out of — Red Dead Redemption 2 probably still queued up from the night before.
